Is Organic Chicken Feed too expensive?

I respond to an email from John,
He wants to start a free range egg farm and he wants the farm to be organic. The problem is he is located along way away from an organic feed supplier. So I give him a few ideas of thing he can do on his farm to feed his chickens.
Milk a Cow
Grow grain
Make compost
grow trees that have fruit that chickens can eat.
