Garden, Compost and Chickens. The process of composting. Making dirt.
I have a rototiller, and I use it sometimes...but I also have chickens and they love to dig through decaying compost. What luck! Let them do the work and clean up the bugs. We only have two chickens at the moment, but they take care of the weeds and the compost pretty well, so why not use their labor.

After the chickens have torn down the pile and mixed things up a bit we recreate the pile and even use the rototiller to churn the dirt a bit more. Then we bury all the big matter under dirt and we water it down heavy.

After that we recover the pile with black plastic, let the bugs go haywire under there and re-populate themselves while processing the soil. After a week or two we take that cover off again and let the chickens dig and eat.
