0:27: Laying hens require 38 unique nutrients each day to lay strong and stay strong. Feed a complete layer feed for at least 90 percent of the hen’s diet. The balance can come from chicken treats.

1:07: Chickens require 16-18 hours of daylight per day for sustained egg production. Consider adding a light on a time in the chicken coop for consistent lighting during the fall and winter.

1:42: Molting chickens are a common occurrence each fall for backyard chicken keepers. The process of losing and regrowing feathers is natural and is often signaled by shorter days. During molt, hens will decrease egg production and need higher protein for feather regrowth. Transition molting hens to Purina® Flock Raiser® crumbles for added protein and less calcium until they start laying eggs again.
