SEQ Catchments, with funding from the Queensland Government's NRM Program, is assisting community groups, such as Atkinson Buaraba Creek Catchment Landcare Group featured here, to trial the use of a grooming machine for the first time to clear Cat’s claw creeper of the trees at Buaraba Creek near Coominya in the Somerset.
The machine clears the vine at the base of tree much more quickly than would otherwise be possible by hand, making it much easier for people to come in afterwards and spray the cut vines with herbicide. It is very effective as an initial stage of treatment over large areas.
