Basic Grooming for your cat

Cats are extremely fastidious and clean by nature .So its no doubt your kitty cleans itself several times a day, but sometimes she’ll need a little help from you.

Cat grooming tips:

Cleanliness is important to the health of your cat’s ears and it protects their hearing. Use a cotton ball. Moisten the cotton ball with baby oil and wipe out the visible part of the ear. You may also use a suitable cotton bud for the for inner ear canal. If you notice any dark crusty wax in your cat’s ear or a bad smell, consult a veterinarian as your cat may have ear mites.

Longhaired cats require more frequent brushing than shorthaired cats for at least 15 minutes a day. This helps to prevent tangling and mating. Mats are most often found behind the ears, under the legs and on the belly.

Use a bristle rubber brush to loosen dead hair and debris from your cat’s coat. Then use a fine-tooth comb to remove tangles from the coat. A rough washcloth can be used to give shine to the coat of shorthaired cats. Hairballs are produced from the dead hair cat’s swallow when they lick their fur. This fur collects in the stomach and forms the hairball. You may also feed hairball formula cat food for hairball prevention.

Keeping your cat’s eyes clean and free of debris is an important part of your cat’s appearance. To clean your cat’s eyes you should moisten a cotton ball with warm water and gently remove any debris from the corner of your cat’s eyes.

Clean your cat’s nose by moistening a cotton ball with warm water and gently remove any debris from your cat’s nose.

Ensure your cat is calm before you start. The pink part of a cats nail known as the “quick”. It is where the nerves and blood vessel are mainly. DO NOT CUT this area. Snip only the white part of the claw, which is at the tip.

Do not trim your cats fur unless you have the proper skills. This might hurt them or promotes uneven fur. Bring them to a groomer at least once a month for an optimized grooming session.
