Didga is 2.5 years old, I adopted her from a shelter at 13 weeks old with the sole intention of starting a youtube channel to showcase her talents (T.B.A.) and to teach humans about responsible cat ownership.
Once she arrived home, I started feeding her 3-4 meals per day up on the skateboard. As the days rolled on (pun intended) while eating on the board, I would roll the board a little more each day. Fast forward a year and a half and she is by far the best skateboarding cat in the world and you could say better than most skateboarding dogs. Jumping over the Rottweiler trick was especially challenging. First, Lucy is a clients dog that lives about 5 miles away. Second, She didn't like the skateboard rolling towards her, jumping away when it rolled near, so I had to go over to her house, for a few weeks just to focus on that, desensitising her to the skateboard rolling under her. Third, when I was either pet minding, visiting or having Lucy on the dog outings (seen in the 7 million view video, "Happy Dogs") Lucy accidentally stepped on Didga a few times, so Didga wasn't too keen on being anywhere near this big dog. This is by far the most complex trick I've ever taught.
Without counting all the other tricks Didga was taught to even lead up to being able to execute this one, it was 4 months of practice to finally get the shot.

I believe it's a myth that cats "need" to roam. my last cat and many other peoples cats lives are cut short by all the dangers of outdoor 'roaming". So I recommend,
#1 keep your cat indoors, then teach your cat to walk on a leash and other fun things, giving your cat experiences like that of an outdoor cat BUT without the dangers. indoor cats live (on average) twice as long, not to mention the wildlife cats kill, it's very sad.
#1 QUESTION: IS MY CAT TOO OLD TO LEARN?
ANSWER: CATS ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN, BESIDES, TECHNIQUE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN AGE. FOLLOW THE ADVICE IN MY TUTORIALS AND YOU WILL SEE.
All the best,
Robert and Didga
