UPDATED April 24: Evolene was spayed and had her dental surgery today. She is doing well, and will be recovering at Kim's house so she can get lots of love and attention. Mama Corsica and her five pudgy kittens will be on this channel until their adoption.
EVOLENE'S STORY:
We were concerned the first time we saw Evolene. It was just a few days after we had begun feeding a new feral cat colony on a farm that has become a dumping ground for unwanted cats and kittens.
We thought Evolene was born feral until she was in our care for a few days and to our delight, transformed into the sweetest, purriest little girl. We now believe it's likely Evolene was Ginger Zero to be dumped at the farm, and reverted to the wild while giving birth to litter after litter of kittens over the years.
Evolene needed help because she was alarmingly emaciated with a large bulging belly. She had several other strange symptoms that could be potentially fatal to her babies, and she had severe dental disease. I was initially concerned she might be too unhealthy to sustain a healthy pregnancy, but seeing such a dramatic change in her during her first week in our care was very encouraging.
Tragically, our efforts were not enough to save her five tiny babies. She gave birth for the last time on April 7th, and was unable to produce milk or care for her babies. We bottle fed every 2-3 hours around the clock, but it became clear the kittens had not been able to develop properly due to Evolene's poor condition throughout most of her pregnancy. Over the next three days, we were devastated to lose all five of her kittens.
As we worked to get Evolene healthy enough for surgery, we were shocked when she went in to heat less than two weeks after giving birth. She would already be pregnant again if she was still out there, and if the last pregnancy hadn't killed her, this one likely would have. Evolene's story is one that happens every day in every neighborhood, but we almost never see it up close and personal like this. The only way to prevent this needless suffering for other cats is to SPAY and NEUTER.
Corsica came from the same colony as Evolene, and is around 4 years old. She is due around the same time as Evolene, and so far seems quite healthy.
We will broadcast the birth of their kittens LIVE and uncensored to provide a learning opportunity for kids with their parents, and anyone else who wishes to witness the "miracle of birth" without bringing more kittens into the world.

Then click on the link "See all my channels or create a new channel". Click on the button labeled "Create a new channel". Type in the identity/name you wish to use and click on the "Create" button.
You can toggle between your main channel/Identity and others you have created by clicking on the Profile icon again. All of the channels you create while logged onto a specific Goggle account are tied together but look as a different user to everyone else.
