子猫のモモの家族かもしれない野良猫。この動画に映っている猫の他にも子猫がいます。小さいもの同士じゃれたり、かわいい顔です。他の大きな猫の中には、避妊手術を受けた印の耳の先を切った猫もいます。
地域猫として暮らしていますが、この猫たちに餌を与えている人の家の庭先で過ごしています。まだ小さな子猫は目の上に傷があり、怪我をしています。助けたいとか、なんとかしたいと思った人が、治療をするなり、飼い主となって面倒を見てあげるのが一番いいのかもしれませんが。我が家には11匹の猫がいます。
これ以上、猫の面倒を見れません。この動画の最後に映っている猫の親子は、また別の家の庭先で他の猫と一緒に餌をもらい、親子は離れず行動しています。むやみに保護するよりも、親子猫の行動や、仔猫の成長過程を見ながら地域猫として見守っていくのもいいんじゃないかと思います。この動画のどちらの猫も庭先で餌を与えている人がいるので、餌を与える人が怪我の治療や避妊去勢手術を進んでしてくれたらいいのですが。今後もしもの病気や怪我、最悪、車に轢かれて死んだ姿を見るくらいなら、小さな猫は人にもまだ慣れやすいと思うので、里親探しをしたほうがいいのかとも思います。里親探しをするとしても、猫に餌を与え住み着いている家の人に話をし、何匹もいる猫を、捕まえてどこで保護をする？保護するまでに何日かかる？怪我の治療やノミ、虫下代、エイズ白血病の検査代は合計でいくらかかる？家の11匹の猫たちの面倒はどうする？目の上に怪我した猫の飼い主さんは見つかるのか？もし、エイズ白血病があったら飼い主さんは見つかる？
何より、保護と言っても、たくさんの猫の保護を一人ではできるわけがありません。住んでいる地域には、犬猫の収容所がありますが、保護している数が多いのか新規で受け入れていません。引き取れないので絶対に捕まえないでくださいとホームページに書いてありました。ホームページによると、殺処分は、より多くの命を救うために、できる限りの努力をしていますが、病気、怪我、幼弱などで、動物愛護の観点から安楽死せざるを得ない動物、治療の甲斐なく命を落とす動物も少なくありません。と書いてあります。
地域の人々に認められ、これ以上増えないように不妊手術をして、一代限りの天寿を全うするために、地域で管理されている猫を「地域猫」といいます。
幼い猫は、怪我もしているので治療が必要と思いますが、母猫も家族みんなで一緒に地域猫としていたほうがいいのか、時期を見て人の力を借りて里親探しをするのがいいのか、どうなんでしょう。ボランティア団体の方は、このような場合、どのような決断をし、行動するのでしょうか。そもそもどこに尋ねたらいいのかもわかりません。
追記、獣医さんによると猫の傷は犬より治りが早いそうなので、心配ではありますが、野良猫は餌を与える人の家の敷地内で過ごしていることもあり、様子を見ながら見守ります。猫が集まる家の方にも、家族でいる野良猫にも、どこまで足を踏み入れていいのか。

It might be better to look after them as Community-cats and look at the kitten growing up day by day than own them to protect them. Before you see the cats get sick, injured or car accident at the worst case, I think people have to find owners for stray-cats because the smaller they are, the less time they need to get along with the new owners. To find appropriate owners, first of all, we get to discuss with outside-feeders for the stray-cats. You have to find the place for several cats after catching them. The definition of Community-cat is that people in the region admit them, give them sterilization to let them live till reaching the end of their life span in the very first generation, so they are under the control of the regional community. I know that small kittens with injuries need treatment, but wondering if we also include the mother-cats as Community-cat and ask for help to find new owners at certain time.
How the volunteering organizations cope with such cases? I don’t even know where to go to ask about it.
